Even more sad is that they are not openly pleased that someone from an unpriveleged background worked his way up on his own efforts. That should serve as a confirmation of the American Dream, and an affirmation of what conservatives ostensibly stand for: freedom and equality.

If you mean the Prez, he hardly had an underprivileged background. His mother was a Phd and he was largely raised in a family of a bank vice-president. There was never a doubt that he would get a superb education. For whatever reason, however he drives a good chunk of his opposition totally berserk, to good effect.
