Here’s the way I see it. No private entity other than Facebook itself should be allowed to collect the information gathered therin. Neither should they be allowed to make that information available to other private entities. It’s that simple. It should remain within the Facebook confines itself or Facebook should be subject to lawsuits for sharing that information with other private entities in this manner. The same would apply if Charles decided to share what I say here with another private entity. Law enforcement regarding a law enforcement matter would be another issue.

The problem as I see it, is that Facebook, Google, etc. make huge amounts of money from targeted advertising that relies on data mining their members’ preferences.
