In the original timeline, but the flash sideways timeline is not in any way the original. There are vestiges of it, but it’s not the same. In the original Sun and Jin were also married when they got on the plane.

They are not married in the new time line, are they? When they got to LA, she couldn’t speak English. They had two different rooms ordered for themselves.
