As long as I can’t smell it, I’m good. Back in TX I wouldn’t even swim in freshwater lakes because they have that awful algae smell. Yyyyuck. And water moccasins.

Also, when I was around 13-years-old I went swimming in a river up in the hill country and came out with tiny black leeches all over me. Yeah, that was the last time I swam in a river.
