Seems to me the divorce rate has everything to do with the sexual revolution. Certainly the sexual revolution makes it less important to get married in the first place. So if it is less important to be married, it is also less important to stay married.

You’re conflating correlation with causation. The timing of the sexual revolution and the rise of the divorce rate is closely correlated, but they are not causative. Men were getting divorced long before the sexual revolution; however, now that women are able to get their own divorces and support themselves without a husband, the divorce rate has increased, as women begin seeking freedom from abusive or otherwise unsatisfactory relationships.
