Turks have always been…odd. The description of some of their practices in Lawrence’s Seven Pilars of Wisdom was enough to make me want to stay away. If they slip back into full Islamist mode with their predilictions, they will be even less of an ally than they currently are.

I read that book. I think Lawrence must have been a better leader than writer. I found much of it laborious to read and easy to put down.
