You can’t make this stuff up. Serial adulterer Newt Gingrich resigns as Speaker in 1998. His heir apparent Bob Livingston has a grip on the Speaker slot for about 4 seconds before he is also revealed to be a serial adulterer. Livingston resigns his congressional seat and is replaced by…wait for it…David Vitter.

The two leading contenders for the gop nod BOTH QUIT their former elected offices—newt in the house 12 years ago, and sarah as gov last year. And neither one has ever given a good reason why they quit.

Some real quality in that pool of candidates./////
