re: #557 freetoken

We are dependent upon each other to such a degree that we will not split apart.

Yet.

Certainly the day may come, I think it will come, when modernity fails (due to lots and lots of issues) and like at the end of the 13th century BCE the entire world system changes… that day is a ways off yet. No need to rush Armageddon (no matter what Harold Camping wants.)

Anyway, as long as we have families living extendedly all over the nation who speak and text with one another daily - break up ain’t going to happen.

We’re dependent on each other, yes!

but what happens when states become uninhabitable, I think that is the trigger that makes the hose of cards collapse

because the US government is not going to have any answer for a water shortage, besides move somewhere else

I don’t think it’ll be like an”enemy” break up, I think it’ll just be that the US becomes compartmentalized to a greater extent than it is now

personally, I feel FAR FAR FAR more kinship to Vancouver BC, than I ever will to the South. Or the east coast, really. I’ve been to Philly, been to Pittsburgh, been to Florida. Didn’t like them AT ALL.

Vancouver BC people are a lot like American northwesterners! They have a huge asian culture, they have a cosmopolitan culture, a great art scene, are not overwhelmed by superstition

And they’re not flying confederate flags.

So when I sorta go on my UGH America tarngents, that’s my example. I’m more patriotic to the Northwest than i am to America as a whole. I could happily move to vancouver BC and live my whole life there, it’s an incredible city. The south? it’s another planet. it’s more alien to me than Europe.

The confedarate flag is a swastika to me. it’s as offensive to me as a nazi flag.

because nazis in america are real, but they’re also a joke. A scary joke, but not a real party. Not a real political mainstream here.

Confederate freaks are dead serious. it’s a culture of slavery and murder and evil that they celebrate. it’s revolting and inhuman.

Whole states whose politics support it? As alien as another planet. I feel bad for good people who live in the south, of course there’s awesome stuff in the south. But it feels like a hostile environment to me. A state that would allow a bizarre cultist like Bobby Jindal to work his gibberish, who would elect that guy?

How is that even possible?

So there’s my Cascadia rant :D
