This is what has been reported. The issue with the cameras is not that they were “bought off” by giving them a free camera. The contention there is that they were given cameras and told to hold them up like they’re taking lots and lots of pics of Obama, so that the PRESS COULD GET GOOD PICTURES of the troops snapping pics of the president, in a mass of military adulation.

I have no reason to doubt that this was done.
