I thought so too. But a lot of the teenaged girls today were wearing hockey skates. Maybe it’s become “cool” to wear them or something? And by the way, these girls weren’t doing any fancy figure skating moves.

And you are right about one thing: Nearly every boy or man on the ice had on hockey skates with the exception of those using rentals.

Maybe it’s a macho thing. The hockey skates certainly look cool.
