For promoting positions as some kind of faux leader, is reason enough to have communion withheld I would think.

Communion can be withheld from someone who publicly lives in a state of mortal sin, or someone who publicly and actively promotes things in direct conflict with Church teaching, like abortion. The problem is, some liberal bishops and priests will give them (Kennedy, Pelosi, et al) communion regardless. How do you stop that? I don’t know, short of the pope taking direct action, like taking priestly faculties away from priests and bishops who persist in doing it.
