Hockey is one sport best witnessed live where you can watch the whole play develop, not just the portion seen on the TV screen. Football would be the opposite of that. You need TV to see all the replays and isolation shots. However, if you have HD, hockey on TV is pretty good.

HD snob here. Once you watch a game on HD, it sucks watching a game on regular TV.
