I think whoever gave this statement said LSD when they meant to say PCP (Phencyclidine) - more commonly known as “Angel Dust” - which is classified as a dissociative hallucinogenic. It works differently than most common hallucinogenics of the psychedelic variety (LSD, mescaline, etc) that act to increase activity in a specific group of receptors that control serotonin levels. Instead, it works by blocking multiple types of higher-function receptors in the brain, as well as pain and other sensory functions. The combination can lead to a psychosis very similar to what this attacker exhibited.
