We’ll get to see if Beck is crazy or not.

If Beck has a few vestiges of sanity left, he settles this out of court.

If Beck is completely insane, he let this get to a jury by fighting the charges in court.

It may not be solely his choice to make. If he has liability insurance, his insurer may not want to run the risk of punitive damages in the event of a jury verdict that goes against Beck.
