Neither the fact that California grows half of the nation’s fruits, nuts and veggies, nor does the fact that it produces 90% of the nation’s wine have anything to do with the state’s water shortages. Anyone who says that part of the problem is providing agribusiness 80-85% of our water at bargain basement prices is just a stinkingcommieliberal.

In Paso Robles, north of where I live, the wine grape growers have free water, since nothing they pump out of the ground is metered. Too bad for the Little People who live in the area and have had their wells go dry because of this. The winos, as we call them, are Entitled! Their position is We Can Use All the Water We Want because We Own All of It.

So that’s the kind of cooperation you can expect from business as the worst drought in modern history moves in to the Southwest and decides to stay a while.
