And 2020 is a census year, which means that redistricting will soon follow. Getting out the vote means having a say in making sure that the GOP isn’t able to gerrymander their way into retaining power in a bunch of states where they’ve failed to get a majority of votes, but somehow manage to have majority (or supermajority) in the legislature.

GOTV. Vote as if your life depends on it. Because it does.

All of the grassroots (and astroturf) groups that were involved in building the GOTV momentum in 2018 need to double down for 2020 at the state level. In most states it’s still the legislature that draws the lines and the governor has to sign off. If Republicans have a trifecta in state government, Dems essentially don’t get a seat at the table for how district lines are drawn for the next decade.
