Actually, you’re right. You also reminded me of a place in Iraq called Haqlaniyah. It’s the provincial capital of the Anbar province. It sits on the Euphrates. GORGEOUS town, if it weren’t for all the bombed out buildings, wild dogs, and trash everywhere. I could see it being some kind of resort town.
