re: #57 Gus

Of course Argentina ended up killing and torturing many more than Pinochet. Since so many were involved we don’t have one name to associate the roughly 30,000 that went “missing.”

I had to read about that when I took Latin American history in the spring of 2010. It was horrifying. The Processo Regime would kidnap men and women off the street. Force women to give birth in captivity and then give the children to a family friendly to the regime or military family. The mothers of many of those kidnapped started a foundation to help find the children. I was very happy when Videla got convicted recently. It’s just too bad that those guys weren’t prosecuted immediately after the regime’s fall. It’s akin to high ranking Nazis being let to roam free until the 1960’s.
