I’m giving you a downding for your ridiculous Dick Armey tax scheme that would completely sell out the working and middle classes. I hope you’re just repeating it out of ignorance, rather than actual belief in it.

Without getting all biographical, this is loosely within my profession and 2 1/2 college degrees. “Completely selling out the working and middle classes” and “ignorance” are overly dramatic for this subject. I approve of progressive income taxation, enthusiastically. I’m not the enemy, neither is clear honest tax policy a complete sellout. I have no idea what Dick Armey says about taxes. He’s kind of the lovable crazy uncle of the right wing.

Double taxation is a real thing, and does (a bit of) harm to the economy. I won’t argue or get all excited about it, or much of anything this close to bedtime, but when other countries tax investment income less than the US, capital flows away from us to them. The poor benefit from capital flowing to the US. Tax policy should be transparent and uncluttered as possible.
