I’ve made Emmy Noether my personal awesome-woman-no-one-ever-heard-of. She basically invented abstract algebra and discovered the physical theorem that all physical properties that obey some form of symmetry have a conservation law. Even though she was never formally hired as a mathematics teacher, and died at 53 due to complications form surgery, her mathematics career is divided into three time periods just to separate her body of work.
