The budget was so much of a joke, so reviled by the end, that even he couldn’t salvage it in the press. The best he could do was remark that “At least it got people talking.” And every wingnut who I pressed on his budget, even before it went down in flames, kept up the “Well, at least he’s getting people talking about the ‘dangers’ of SS and Medicare/Medicaid.”
