I get letting bad countries into the UN. Giving them positions of influence and power on committees they should be investigated by is a different issue.

You can’t just let them in and then beat them up. It can’t work that way. I completely agree that some countries have no place on the human rights organizations, but what would you say to those who say that the US imprisons a higher percentage of its citizens than anyone else and still doesn’t have gay rights, so we don’t belong on it, either?

I have no more respect for knee-jerk anti-UN bullshit than I do knee-jerk anti-US bullshit.
