Exactly. Because if Romney won in 2012 he would have a right to be “leader of the free world” (whatever that means). Just as Bush “had a right”, Obama “has a right.”

It wasn’t a mistake though on Romney’s part. This is what he truly thinks and reflects the mindset of the right wing.
