Well the thing with Hispanics is many still identify as white. Honestly, this is just part of how a country changes. In the early years of the Republic, the country was predominately white, Protestant, and of Northern European background. By century’s end, we had more Catholics and were starting to see Eastern and Southern Europeans too. That’s how I see the change.

It’s because race and ethnicity are different things. David Ortiz is black and Hispanic (and Latino, for that matter). Andy Garcia is white and Hispanic/Latino. Most people don’t understand the differences so they conflate the social constructs into one thing. End of the day, you’re right, it’s going to change. The question is how badly certain segments of white America is going to fight it and how much the rest will embrace it.
