I see hope for our nation in Chris Christie, of all people. I disagree with him on much - I think he’d last five minutes as a teacher and on minute six he’d be tripling their salaries - but a centrist Democrat like our president clearly cannot break the fever of the hard right GOP. Perhaps Christie can. This is crucial to the survival of our country, and I’m not even kidding. The vitriol, the noxious and pointless fury and hatred, don’t kid yourselves: it was birthed in the Clinton era on radio and has spread from there like a plague to television and the internet and of course the political arena, creating Fox News and thus Iraq and thus a second term for George W. Bush and thus Barack Obama himself, culminating in the vomit-inducing cynicism of the current Romney/Rove “campaign”. The humanity of Christie is a breath of fresh air to say the least. Thank you, Governor Christie.
