When I was teaching in Alameda, another Jewish teacher tried to get the school to keep the library open during lunchtime in Ramadan, so the kids who were fasting didn’t have to sit in the cafeteria while everyone else was eating.

I supported it, but they said no. I thought it was a very low-key accommodation, and it was the staff that brought it up.

I think I said this before, If one can’t “assimilate” without special concessions being granted, go to a religious school.

Do you seriously think one concession doesn’t lead to asking for another one? This is not a matter of Sharia law crap, it is just a matter of doing what everyone else has done until you chose to live in this society.
