People have always been able to propagandize themselves. That they now have a wider choice of what to self-propagandize themselves with is hardly a significant change, and, perversely, ignores the obvious: that they must encounter significantly more challenges to their worldview than in the past.

Then perhaps you can explain the hardening and radicalization of opinion and world-view we witness of late among heavy users of the communications technologies? Just because you bother to seek out alternate opinions and points of view does not mean that this is a generalized pattern of behavior; I’d suggest - cringe though I do at saying it - that you are perhaps more reasonable in your approach to the world than most other people are.
