Calculus, more than many other math classes IMHO, is highly dependent on the ability of the teacher to break through. For many students (including me), it’s a very different conceptual framework from the math that they’re used to. There are a few teachers, though they’re rare, who are able to express the concepts first and THEN teach the math, and everyone gets it.
(i met such a person later in life, so i muddled through calc the old-fashioned way…although when she gets to Physics or probability theory, she’ll love her Calculus foundation)
