I agree with him, we are a nation of cowards and are afraid to address the real racial issues that remain. Until I see the following I won’t be satisfied.

1) Black Secretary of State
2) Black Female Secretary of State
3) Black President
4) Black US Attorney General
5) Black Supreme Court Justice

When we see these things, then we’ll know we’re beyond race.

Yes, and only when the following things happen in American culture will we be well and truly past race:

1. A black person as the wealthiest and most famous TV celebrity.
2. A black actor listed as the #1 most “bankable” star guaranteed to draw the largest audience.
3. A black athlete #1 in a traditionally “white” sport
4. Black singers winning a nationwide talent contest.
5. A black celebrity voted “most beautiful woman in America”
6. …etc.
