Yes, he definitely seems to be the more playful parent. That was obvious in the storyreading yesterday too. But Malia seems engaged and interested, and she is (just barely) old enough to be, at least, a second-in-command caretaker. Neither Michelle nor Obama had pets while growing up, and this is the family’s first pet, so they have plenty of learning to do.

The girls look a bit shy, which I think is a combination of walking the first dog (double meaning there!) and having all those people watching. It will perhaps take them a while to get used to having all those damn cameras everywhere.

Plus, these are lovely dogs - it’s hard not to love them.
