Believe it or not, there’s rubber trees. It can be done that way. As to plastic, we could use biologically based feedstock, or we could start from coal. The loss of oil would be a blow, but it would not spell game over.

Believe it or not, we quit using rubber trees for a reason. I believe it was “supply and demand”, but I could be mistaken.

As to plastic being synthesized from biologically based feedstock, I would like a link for that if you’re still here. Not out of snark or anything like that, I am just honestly curious about the subject.
