The Boston tea party was protesting taxes that were far less onerous than what we accept today as normal. If any one of the founders were around today they would wonder why we are not in open rebellion.

They weren’t protesting the amount of the taxes. They were protesting the position of having to pay taxes while having no say in the government that was levying them.

Last time I checked - about 30 seconds ago - we currently have representation in government at all levels.

Trying to equate these protests to those of the Revolutionary tea party by claiming similarity of causes is a non-starter.
