What would you have done?

I would have vetoed the bill, invoked the 14th amendment, and announced I wouldn’t be running for a second term. Then I would have publicly shamed not only the GOP, but also my own party. I would challenge the people to nominate a candidate who could take a stand against those who are actively waging class warfare. I would call it class warfare, in those exact words, and I would call the current incarnation of the GOP what it is: a mirror image of the Taliban. I would apologize to the American people for failing them as a leader, and folding when I should have fought. Then I would spend the remainder of my term proposing legislation to undo the damage wrought by the GOP over the past decade, whether it had any chance of passing or not. I would explain to the American people that they will never get the government they need until they accept that they cannot have the largest military in the world while simultaneously having the lowest rates of taxation in the western world, that they are going to continue to suffer until they wake from their long stupor and force their government to make difficult choices they need to make. I would tell my pollsters to fuck off, publicly, and I would play Eisenhower’s speech regarding the Military-Industrial complex as my final act, saying only that Eisenhower was absolutely correct.

Sometimes you have to take responsibility, and Obama has abjectly failed to do so. He is triangulating us all into the shitter, and it is disgusting.
