I quoted “King of the Forest” to you above in answer to your question, because it reminded me of a little known fact. “King of the Forest” was originally sung by Bert Lahr (the Lion) in his vaudeville act in a segment called “The Lumberjack.” It was written by Harold Arlen (songwriter for Oz), written by him for Lahr, and they pulled the song into the movie because the director wanted Lahr to do a star turn in the movie.
Interesting. I never knew that. I did here that the song was cut down in post-production editing because the movie was though too long.
