What a prophet L. Frank Baum was. By the way does anyone know if the Populist allegory has conclusively been proven or is it just speculation by social historians? Don’t know enough about Baum or where he stood ideologically if anywhere to know if he intended the Wizard of Oz to be based off that. I do know that in the book, Dororthy’s slippers are silver and not ruby.

Allegory is impossible to disprove, but really not likely.

They tried silver slippers for the movie, but it didn’t work on film.
