the story of two monks…..

a young monk and an old monk from a certain monastery were out walking on their way to a seminar (long long ago… it was like a seminar on how to sell kitchen knives or sumzing). The old monk viewed the young monk as a young, stupid turd…. generally.

On their journey, they came to a a swollen river…. churning down the valley. A young woman stood next to the river in tears.

The young monk approached the young woman and asked her why she was crying. She replied that she was on a journey to see her dying mother…. and that she was so sad because of the flooded river and the fact that she didn’t know how to swim and that she could not cross it…. and she wouldn’t be able to see her mother….

The young monk, not giving it second thought, offered to carry her across the river. And so, he did. she thanked him profusely for his generosity.

On the other side of the river, he set the young woman down, and took his place next to the old monk walking down the trail.

A few miles passed, and the old monk stopped and began berating the young monk. Why did you do this? You have sworn to a code of silence…. you have sworn to celibacy….. yet here you are talking to a woman…. AND THEN TOUCHING HER!?

The young monk looked at the old monk…. then said…. I set her down three miles ago. why are you still carrying her?
