re: #6 CuriousLurker
I always wonder if the people who do that and have family members, employers, etc. who are religious behave the same with them, or if itās reserved for strangers on the internet.
Iām pretty close to Chicago, so religion at work isnāt the problem it more often is in red states. I have one manager whoās still religious. The rest of us were raised Christian but grew out of it.
My brotherās family is so religious that they canāt fully engage with reality, and think evolution is a Liberal hoax. Theyāre aware that I do not share their beliefs. Also that I donāt think they should be watching Fox news. We still get along just fine because no one is thin-skinned, and weāre all good, well-meaning people.
I donāt feel the need to pretend that the supernatural is real to make religious people more comfortable. That would be totally dishonest since Iāve never seen any evidence to support that kind of belief, and no one who believes in the supernatural has been able to provide any.
If someone could provide evidence of a god, I wouldnāt worship it, since being powerful isnāt a reason to worship something, but I would study it to see if itās a threat and to look for weaknesses. If its ethics were congruent with mine, I might even like it.
