Good on your father for fighting to make it back to a skilled job. I can only imagine all he had to put up with. And having to deal with the lack of a safety net. It was a hard time.
Interesting that he went to school in East Pittsburgh. That was where the US-30/Ardmore Blvd/Lincoln Hwy roadbed collapsed today. By the way, I was just looking, East Pittsburgh’s population is down from a high of 6000 to less than 2000. Many of them elderly.
I drove that a lot with Dad when I lived back in Pittsburgh. But that’s what happens with years of neglecting road maintenance PLUS lax building codes!
