If you ever feel like you need a lot of condescending and often insulting lectures about American history, just post “How did the US end up with so many bad and stupid people?” on Twitter.

Twitter’s lecture squad always takes a rhetorical question as the signal for a condescension pile-on.

The answer to the question is simple. The rise of technology has made it easy for people to isolate themselves in infobubbles where they don’t have to hear or read anything they don’t want to. This leads to mental stagnation, an onset of late-age stupidity, and a tendency to be an asshole to anyone who disagrees with you - since your brain is literally rejecting new information, as you’ve trained it to do.
