He will apologize ad nauseum for America, but will not apologize for himself.
This was always my problem with Clinton’s apologies.
Guilt doesn’t slide around. It sticks to the person it belongs to. It takes no pain, no guts, to apologize for what you didn’t do, and you get a nice warm feeling from being a “good person.”
Then, when it’s your turn, you shuck off your own guilt like a leopard-print snuggie.
Doesn’t work for me. It’s still your own guilt.
