Fascism is and has always been a phenomenon of the right.
Authoritarianism exists on both sides of the political spectrum; on the right it’s fascism, on the left totalitarianism.

Conflating fascism with socialism in any way is Jonah Goldberg territory, and best avoided.

If I may toss in a point, I’ve considered nazism not so much either fascistic or socialistic…but almost purely opportunistic in their authoritarianism. Hardcore Machiavelli, as it were.

Sure they were in bed with the traditionally conservative industrialists, but as they were also democratically elected, they would also have to have tried reaching out to the disgruntled layman.
