But, that is my point. These are old agendas, and it took 50 years to pass “Obamacare”, which itself is a rather backwards way to approach the problem of universal health-care.
Much of what defines “Democratic party” are still from the FDR-Truman era, some of the coalition are the same members, but now with a much larger nation and therefore larger and more diverse parties. And the largeness of the political coalitions is making it tough to get even small changes accomplished.
“Obamacare” is the last (perhaps only) big (domestic) achievement in President Obama’s administration. I doubt the next President can accomplish even that much.
