ah yup. Now that’s the way to go about inducing the public to buy fuel efficient vehicles ok.
All it means is the same thing that happened in NYC when Bloomberg jacked up the price of cigarettes: folks either smoked less or bought their cig’s from Indian Reservations or out of state, the net effect being an “unanticipated” shortfall in tax income to the City.
So folks drive less, or carpool and they sell less gasoline and therefore receive less tax revenue from the sale of gasoline.
There are times when I think everyone in charge of any government at any level is a complete and total fucking maroon.
