Capital-strapped community banks struggle to repay TARP

Perhaps the “Bank Transfer Day” movement might help create more capital for smaller banks.

Maybe, it might help some but….

According to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., 326 of the 392 bank failures in the U.S. since 2008 have been community banks.

It’s one of the dangers in the “move your money” thing. These smaller banks are much more likely to fail. I’m pretty sure most small banks are covered by fdic but it’s something people should check before moving to a small bank.
