Yeah family names are important. I’m named after both grandfathers and my youngest brother after two of my Dad’s brothers. My middle brother has the most Irish sounding name of all four of us and he’s the least Celtophile of the three of us.

A son ordered a CD from a small Irish label in the Bronx. When he hung up he looked puzzled and said “They didn’t ask how to spell either of my names”.
