The tone of this platform is nasty:

i. Restore the process of assimilation of immigrants to preserve the benefits of an advanced educated and prosperous society. Rescind Maine’s sanctuary State status. No amnesty, no benefits, no citizenship -ever- for anyone in the country illegally. Arrest and detain, for a specified period of time, anyone here illegally, and then deport, period.

Okay. I love it. It at least gives us something to work with.

Anyone want to run the numbers on how much it would cost to “arrest, detain, and deport” 10M illegal immigrants right now?

I’m not even talking the economic impact of every restaurant in NYC closing because their kitchen just got deported, I’m not even talking judical costs as people with “gray area” statuses challenge their deportation.

I’m talking the logistics costs of moving 10M people from this country to another. Hell, I’ll even give the benefit that they’re completely willing to go.

If you assume it will cost $1,000 per person to locate, confirm illegality, and transport to another country (probably a conservative estimate), congratulations, you just spent $10B. Now if you look at the actual costs I noted above, you may be asking to spend closer to $100B or even $1T.

But this kind of a conversation would have to occur between adults—and not ostrich headed radicals who don’t understand that the world is not as simple as they want it to be.
