The whole funding issue is interesting. Apparently the CPB, which is publicly funded, gives almost all of its money to the local public broadcasting stations. They in turn are dependent upon NPR for the lion share of the product. NPR wouldn’t exist if not for the local public broadcasting stations. If that’s the case, it seems a little disingenuous to imply that the government isn’t supplying funding to NPR simply because it doesn’t get the money directly. Am I missing something? Can anyone give me clarity on what “public broadcasting” is all about?
