Honestly, if these people got everything they wanted with respect to the role of religion in our lives would it look any different than countries governed by sharia? I mean I understand that there wouldn’t be burkas (instead just big blonde hair and too much make up) and that there wouldn’t be stonings and the like. But I am not sure that there would be much less religious interference in the personal affairs of ordinary citizens, particularly women and children. The impact on education, choice, reproductive freedom, sexual orientation would be almost indistinguishable.
