Well, Sodom and Gomorrah were not exactly the world, but you have a valid point ;)

Your talking about the story of Lot which came somewhat later, in Lot’s story only Sodom and Gomorrah are destroyed. In the story of Noah every person and town on the entire planet, except for Noah’s family taking refuge inside the Ark, is killed/destroyed.

Immediately after the Ark lands on dry ground Noah’s two daughters decide that they need to get impregnated by him, so they get him drunk and do the dirty with daddy. (so as to start repopulating the Earth as quickly as possibly).

So if you believe that the bible is the infallible word of God that should be taken completely literally rather than as a collection of parables. Then you also believe that the whole of mankind came about as the result of father/daughter incest. (after the whole brother/sister incest thing between Adam and Eves offspring that resulted in Noah in the first place of course).

Then again, maybe the fact that we are all supposedly so closely inbred might explain some of colossal stupidity we see on evident display daily? :p
