I used to see SRV all the time here in Austin in the early-mid 80s. He would play free concerts at the shores of Town Lake (where there now stands a statue in his honor) and at legendary Austin blues club Antones among other venues.

He was such a big part of the music scene here. Then he got real big, and then he died. Way too young.
